Director of Public Relations

PuntoUP Professional Recruitment is seeking a PR Director for an independent strategic and integrated communications agency, with a client portfolio spanning diverse industries -energy, technology, financial services, retail, transport and logistics, industry and manufacturing. This is a senior leadership role, reporting directly to the Managing Partner

Location: Bucharest, central area – hybrid model

Main Purpose of the Job: The role exists to take on, alongside the Managing Partner, the strategic coordination of accounts and team, and to raise the professional standard of deliverables. The PR Director guides people, owns the client relationship at decision-making level, and ensures coherence between clients’ business objectives and the communication strategies delivered.

Job Profile:

  • Develop and coordinate strategies, plans, campaigns and projects across PR, corporate communications, reputation management, media relations, employer branding, social media and integrated communications, for clients across diverse industries.
  • Manage the client relationship at decision-making level -from understanding the brief and proposing the strategic direction, through to overseeing implementation and evaluating results.
  • Build solid proposals and position papers -mini-strategies with an implementation plan and budget -for incoming requests, turning an enquiry into a clear, well-argued proposal.
  • Grow existing accounts by identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities, contributing to business growth without this being a cold-sales role.
  • Coordinate, guide and develop a team of at least 4 people (account / project managers and executives), ensuring quality of deliverables, correct prioritization, adherence to deadlines and the professional growth of colleagues.
  • Cultivate and strengthen solid relationships with journalists, editors and opinion leaders at various levels -relationships you already bring from your experience and maintain over time.
  • Represent the agency in front of clients and partners with a level of professionalism that supports the firm’s reputation and standards.
  • Track relevant industry trends, tools and technologies and bring fresh, applicable ideas into the team’s projects.
  • Contribute to strengthening internal processes, ways of working and team culture.

Candidate Profile:

  • Minimum 5 years of agency experience and minimum 5 years leading teams.
  • Ideally currently working in an agency (or coming from a senior manager position that has operated at this level), for a quick adaptation to the pace and specifics of the role.
  • You already have solid relationships with the press and the journalistic environment, at various levels -from reporter to editor-in-chief.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to turn complex topics into clear messages, adapted to channel, audience and objective.
  • Experience managing the client relationship directly, including in strategic or high-stakes contexts.
  • Advanced English, written and spoken, used routinely in work with international clients.
  • Professional maturity and a professionalism visible in the way you communicate, write and present yourself -because you work with image and reputation.
  • Autonomy, accountability and a clear set of ethical principles -results-oriented, regardless of where you work from.
  • Emotional intelligence, empathy and genuine curiosity for continuous learning.
