PuntoUP Professional Recruitment is looking for an Electricity Trading Back-Office Expert on behalf of an independent renewable energy provider active across Central and Eastern Europe. The role sits within the Romanian Commercial Team and covers the operational side of electricity trading and supply, from contract administration to settlement and reporting. If you enjoy structured, detail-driven work at the intersection of trading, finance, and operations, we’d like to hear from you.
Location: on-site, Bucharest, Romania
Main Purpose of the Job: The role owns the operational activities supporting the company’s electricity trading and supply business, translating commercial agreements and trading activity into accurate, timely execution. It covers the full post-trade lifecycle – contract administration, transaction validation, settlement, invoicing, reporting, and operational controls – across market access and balancing services, electricity supply, bilateral and OTC transactions, spot-market activity, and BESS optimization. The person in this role becomes a trusted operational partner to Trading, Supply, Finance, and Asset Management.
Job Profile:
- Manage the operational lifecycle of electricity trading and supply contracts, ensuring commercial terms are correctly reflected in day-to-day processes.
- Register, verify, and maintain contracts, transactions, and relevant operational data in internal systems and databases.
- Coordinate and reconcile traded, nominated, delivered, and metered volumes across supply, DAM, IDM, OTC, and balancing activities.
- Manage the end-to-end settlement and invoicing process for electricity trading, supply, and BESS optimization.
- Validate volumes, prices, fees, and other settlement components before invoices are issued, approved, or paid.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies relating to trades, metering, settlements, invoices, and payments.
- Monitor payment status and support cash collection, credit control, collateral monitoring, and liquidity planning.
- Maintain the reporting calendar and ensure regulatory, market, operational, and internal reports are accurate and submitted on time.
- Collect, validate, and consolidate data from internal systems, market platforms, counterparties, and other sources.
- Prepare operational reports and analyses to support commercial and management decision-making.
- Monitor data quality, identify inconsistencies, and follow issues through to resolution.
- Support month-end closing, reconciliations, audits, and Finance reporting requirements.
- Maintain complete and accurate records of contracts, invoices, confirmations, reports, and operational correspondence.
- Collaborate closely with Origination, Trading, Strategy, Finance, and Asset Management to coordinate and resolve day-to-day operational matters.
- Act as an operational point of contact for counterparties and other external stakeholders for the Romanian Commercial Team, when required.
- Contribute to the development of robust controls and the continuous improvement, standardization, and scalability of internal processes.
Candidate Profile:
- Previous experience in an energy back-office, trading operations, settlements, invoicing, commercial administration, or reporting role.
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with complex data from multiple sources.
- Good understanding of operational controls, reconciliations, and data validation.
- Experience with ETRM systems, market platforms, or energy-sector reporting tools is an advantage.
- Knowledge of the Romanian electricity market (trading, supply, balancing, settlement, or regulatory reporting) is a strong advantage, though not essential with the right operational experience and motivation to learn.
- Ability to interpret contractual and commercial terms and translate them into operational processes.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple reporting and settlement deadlines.
- Analytical and structured approach to identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Proactive mindset and willingness to take ownership rather than simply execute assigned tasks.
- Genuine interest in understanding the commercial activities behind the operational processes.
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with different teams and external stakeholders.
- Fluency in Romanian and a good working command of English.
Benefits:
- Be part of a growing, international company with the opportunity to make an impact from day one.
- Collaborative team environment across European markets.
- Annual performance-based bonus.
- Competitive salary.
- Company events (Christmas and Summer parties).
