International Bookstore & Distribution Manager

PuntoUP Professional Recruitment is seeking an International Bookstore & Distribution Manager for an international publishing and direct-response company that is expanding its book distribution across Europe and the UK. This is a senior commercial role for someone who already knows the book trade from the inside – who has worked hands-on with bookstores and distributors, and who brings a live network of relationships across the channel. The right person is a self-driven operator who can open doors, negotiate the terms that matter, and turn partnerships into durable distribution growth.

Location: Remote (international) – covering bookstore and distribution markets across Europe and the UK, with travel to book fairs, industry events, and key partner meetings.

Main Purpose of the Job: To build and scale international book distribution by turning relationships with bookstore networks, independent bookshops, and distributors across Europe and the UK into long-term, revenue-generating partnerships.

Job Profile:

  • Build, manage, and scale long-term partnerships with bookstore networks, independent bookshops, and distributors across Europe and the UK.
  • Leverage and continuously expand your existing industry network to open new accounts and strengthen current distribution channels.
  • Identify, evaluate, and secure new commercial opportunities with major bookstore chains, independent retailers, and distribution partners.
  • Lead commercial negotiations end to end — listing terms, pricing and discount structures, distribution agreements, and co-marketing initiatives.
  • Act as the senior point of contact for international bookstore and distribution partners, owning each relationship for the long term.
  • Track sales performance, distribution coverage, and in-store visibility, and turn the data into strategies that improve sell-through and market penetration.
  • Read market trends and competitive dynamics across European and UK book markets, and translate them into concrete growth initiatives.
  • Represent the company at international book fairs, industry events, and partner meetings, building brand presence across the channel.
  • Work cross-functionally with editorial, sales, marketing, and operations to align commercial goals with publishing and launch plans.
  • Contribute to international growth strategy and forecasting — market prioritization, revenue planning, and the partnership roadmap.

Candidate Profile:

  • 7–10 years in the book industry, with a strong background in publishing, book trade, distribution, or bookstore management.
  • Hands-on experience working directly with bookstores and/or distributors in international markets.
  • A proven track record of building, managing, and scaling strategic partnerships across Europe and the UK.
  • An active, established network within bookstore chains, independent bookshops, and/or distribution partners.
  • Strong commercial acumen — able to negotiate, structure, and close partnership agreements.
  • Deep understanding of international book distribution models, market dynamics, and regional specifics.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the credibility to engage senior stakeholders.
  • Fluent English (written and spoken); additional European languages are a strong advantage.
  • Strategic, self-driven, and comfortable operating independently to drive international growth.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary.
  • Private medical insurance.
  • Real growth opportunities within an expanding international team.
  • Ownership of international markets and the partnerships you build.
  • Annual team-building (on working days).
