Product Manager

PuntoUP Professional Recruitment is seeking a Product Manager for an international automotive group rapidly expanding in the Romanian market – the regional importer and distributor of two emerging SUV brands with a growing dealer network across the country. The ideal candidate combines strong automotive product knowledge with commercial acumen, analytical thinking, and the ability to coordinate between a Central European headquarters and the local market.

Location: Bucharest, Romania – on-site role with regular travel across Romania and occasional travel to the regional HQ in Hungary.

Main Purpose of the Job: Driving product portfolio strategy execution in the Romanian market – from new model launches and pricing recommendations to competitive positioning and dealer product training – ensuring each model is optimally configured, priced, and positioned to win in a fast-growing, highly competitive segment.

Job Profile:

  • Coordinate the local launch of new models and facelifts – timelines, specifications, configuration options, marketing briefs – in alignment with the regional HQ product roadmap.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed product positioning documents: feature comparisons, competitive benchmarks, pricing grids, and sales arguments for the dealer network.
  • Analyze the Romanian automotive market – competitor pricing, segment trends, registration data, customer preferences – and translate findings into actionable product recommendations for management.
  • Develop pricing proposals for each model and trim level based on market analysis, cost inputs from HQ, and margin targets; present recommendations to the Country Director for approval.
  • Manage the product lifecycle from pre-launch preparation through active sales to phase-out, including configuration mix optimization and stock-level recommendations.
  • Build and deliver product training sessions for the sales network – ensuring dealers understand technical specifications, key differentiators, and competitive advantages of each model.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team on product-focused campaigns, digital content, brochure accuracy, and launch event preparation.
  • Monitor sales performance by model, trim, powertrain (ICE, hybrid, EV) and region; flag deviations and propose corrective actions.
  • Track regulatory and homologation requirements (emissions standards, type-approval updates) that may impact product availability or specifications in Romania.
  • Act as the local product authority – the go-to person for Sales, Marketing, Aftersales, and dealer partners on all product-related questions.

Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in product management, product marketing, or commercial roles within the automotive industry (OEM, importer, or distributor level).
  • Strong understanding of the Romanian automotive market – segments, competitors, pricing dynamics, customer behavior.
  • Proven ability to build competitive analyses, pricing models, and product positioning strategies.
  • Excellent analytical skills – comfortable working with sales data, registration statistics, and financial models.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, data modeling); experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.
  • Fluent English (written and spoken) – daily coordination with regional HQ; Romanian native.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills – able to train dealers and present to senior management with equal clarity.
  • Self-driven, structured, and able to manage multiple product launches simultaneously in a fast-paced start-up environment.
  • Passion for the automotive industry; genuine curiosity about technology, electrification trends, and customer experience.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary package aligned with experience and market benchmarks.
  • Company car.
  • Performance-based bonus structure.
  • Opportunity to shape the product strategy of two fast-growing automotive brands from the ground up in Romania.
  • Dynamic, international work environment with direct exposure to European-level decision-making.
  • Career growth potential within an expanding organization.
