PuntoUP Professional Recruitment is seeking a Senior Auditor for a client active in audit and advisory services – part of an international network, with a portfolio spanning financial services, technology, real estate and industrial clients. This is a role for an auditor who already runs engagements with a degree of autonomy, reviews the work of others, and is comfortable being the point of reference between the field team and the Audit Manager. It suits someone who wants to keep building technically, with ACCA and ASPAAS qualification fully supported.

Location: Bucharest – office-based 

Main Purpose of the Job: To lead audit fieldwork on assigned engagements – planning the work, supervising and reviewing the associates’ output, and delivering files that hold up under Manager and Partner review, on time and to the firm’s technical standards.

Job Profile:

• Supervise the audit fieldwork carried out by associates and review their working papers, providing correction and technical guidance as the work progresses.
• Assess the client’s internal control environment and build audit programmes calibrated to the identified risks.
• Review financial statements and supporting client documentation, testing the substance behind the figures rather than the form.
• Identify, escalate and resolve accounting and audit issues arising during the engagement, involving the Audit Manager where judgment calls are required.
• Draft management letters, audit reports and client correspondence in clear, defensible language.
• Monitor engagement progress against budget and deadlines, and flag deviations early.
• Prepare the file for Audit Manager review and coordinate the follow-up on review points.
• Keep the engagement team and management informed on status, findings and open items throughout the assignment.
• Maintain a direct, professional working relationship with client finance teams during fieldwork.
• Contribute to the technical development of junior colleagues through day-to-day coaching on the engagement.

Candidate Profile:

• Degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 4–6 years of experience in external audit, within an audit firm.
• Solid working knowledge of RAS and IFRS, and of the audit methodology behind a full engagement cycle.
• Experience supervising or reviewing the work of junior auditors.
• ACCA student status – an advantage; candidates who have started or intend to start the qualification are supported.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken – the role involves international clients and reporting.
• Advanced Excel and confidence working with audit software.
• Structured, fast learner, able to hold several engagements at once without losing accuracy.
• A collaborative working style – the role sits between the field team, the Manager and the client.
